How to Safely Ship Your Cards When You Sell

The hardest part of selling cards is not finding a buyer. It is the moment you put your cards in a box and trust them to a shipping label. Done right, shipping is simple and safe. Here is how to pack like a pro so your cards arrive exactly as they left.
Supplies worth having
- Penny sleeves and top loaders for singles
- Team bags or card savers for graded slabs
- Painter's tape, used to secure top loaders, never directly on a card
- Bubble mailers for small lots, a rigid box for larger ones
- Bubble wrap or cardboard to immobilize everything inside
Packing singles and slabs
- Sleeve each card, then place it in a top loader. Tape the top loader closed lightly so the card cannot slide out, but never tape the card itself.
- For graded slabs, wrap each one in bubble wrap individually. Slabs crack at the corners, so protect those first.
- Sandwich the cards between two pieces of rigid cardboard and tape the bundle so nothing shifts.
- Place the bundle in a mailer or box with room for padding on all sides. If it rattles, add more padding.
Shipping a whole collection
For boxes and binders, the goal is the same: nothing moves. Fill every gap with paper or bubble wrap so cards cannot slide during transit. Use a sturdy box, tape every seam, and keep the weight reasonable per box so it is easy to handle.
