How to Sell a Pokémon or Trading Card Collection
Share
Sports cards get most of the attention, but Pokémon and other trading card games can be just as valuable, and sometimes more. If you have a collection sitting in a closet, here is how to figure out what you have and how to sell it without the guesswork.
Where the value hides in Pokémon
As with sports cards, a small number of cards usually carry most of the value. Pull these out first:
- Vintage and first editions. Base Set, Jungle, and Fossil, especially anything marked First Edition or with a shadowless print.
- Holos and full arts. Holographic rares, full art and alternate art cards, and secret rares from modern sets.
- Graded cards. Anything already slabbed by PSA, BGS, CGC, or SGC is the easiest to value and often the most valuable.
- Sealed product. Unopened booster boxes, packs, and tins can carry serious value, sometimes more than singles.
Beyond Pokémon
The same logic applies across the hobby. We buy a wide range of collections, including One Piece, Magic: The Gathering, and other trading card games, along with non sports cards. If it is collectible and you are ready to move it, it is worth asking about.
How to tell what you have
- Separate sealed product from singles, and singles from bulk commons.
- Look for set symbols, rarity marks, and edition stamps on the cards you suspect are valuable.
- Note condition honestly. Sharp corners, clean edges, and centered printing all matter.
- Photograph the standouts and any sealed items clearly.
